Demand FCC public hearings!

Check out http://www.hearusnow.org/ from Comsumers Reports. They have some very informative content, and actions you can take to try and make a difference!

"Today, six corporations control most of what you see on television. One company has gobbled up more than 1,000 radio stations across the country. And since 1975, two-thirds of all independently-owned newspapers have disappeared.

This is a dangerous trend. Access to diverse sources of information is the bedrock of a functioning democratic society. Americans depend on television and newspapers to learn about the news, understand national and local issues and make informed choices. Media consolidation means that fewer pipelines are available to distribute entertainment, information and news to consumers and fewer voices are getting a chance to be heard."

Scotty is proud to lie

SCOTT McCLELLAN: Are you referring to, what, a New York Daily News report? Two things: One, we're not commenting on an ongoing investigation; two, and I would challenge the overall accuracy of that news account.

QUESTION: That's a comment.

QUESTION: Which part of it?

QUESTION: Yes, that is.

QUESTION: Which facts --

SCOTT McCLELLAN: No, I'm just saying -- no, I'm just trying to help you all.

QUESTION: So what facts are you challenging?

SCOTT McCLELLAN: Again, I'm not going to comment on an ongoing investigation.

US blocks U.N. briefing on atrocities in Sudan

"They noted Bolton had lined up with the three council members -- Algeria, China and Russia -- which have watered down action against Khartoum.

"He's playing into the hands of people who don't want to do anything," said one council diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to irritate Washington."

So Bolton is already doing wonders to support genocide.....

Who is Miers

"But she does know better than just about anyone else where the bodies are buried (relax, it's a just a metaphor...we hope) in President Bush's National Guard scandal. In fact, Bush's Texas gubenatorial campaign in 1998 (when he was starting to eye the White House) actually paid Miers $19,000 to run an internal pre-emptive probe of the potential scandal. Not long after, a since-settled lawsuit alleged that the Texas Lottery Commission -- while chaired by Bush appointee Miers -- played a role in a multi-million dollar cover-up of the scandal."
